FL Studio Tutorial: Awesome Tape Stop Effect

This tutorial will teach you how to use the tape stop effect from DBlue with automation in your productions.
 This is a really cool effect that can be used in any genre of music, it works especially well with hiphop and edm trap.

Step1.

The tape stop VST is free to download here
Click download under "OLD VST PLUG-INS PACK"
http://illformed.org/plugins/

You also get included in this download other vsts such as the Glitch VST which is also pretty cool.


Step 2.

You need to copy the vsts you have downloaded to the image line - fl studio - VST folder

Then load it up in the mixer in fl studio

When you have the plugin loaded up this ios what it looks like, the VST only has 3 settings.

Slow down controls the speed of the tape stop effect, for best effect I recommend setting this to around 0.12

Trigger controls when the effect is triggered and this is what you will automate.

Step 3.

Load up a song you have or create a simple beat

You can either load up the tape stop effect on the MASTER channel of the mixer so the effect applies to everything in the project or just load it up on one mixer track, for example your bass.

For this tutorial load it up on the master track.

Step 4.

So you have the VST loaded up on your song on the master channel of the mixer.

Right click trigger on the tapestop vst and then click create automation clip.

Now you will see the automation clip on the playlist to control the effect.






Step 5.

Right click points on the automation clip to create shapes in it. The square shape you can see on my automation clip is the easiest to use with the tape stop effect. It is made by right clicking four points in the clip and dragging them into the right shape.

This works best at the end of a bar but can be used at any point.
Make the square wider for a longer tape stop effect. Now you should know how to use this awesome tape stop effect.
